(April 2023) The beauty of Wahiawa Botanical Garden is how compact the plant life is in a relatively narrow section of hillside made all the more interesting with its winding paved pathways down to the bottom of the gulch.
There are a few benches set around the entry way and sidewalks that wind through the upper portion of the park. The ferns and vines that call these trees home remind me of "Jurassic Park"! Many times, the weather is cool and breezy through the branches, making for interesting shadows for picture making.
The images of trees and forest are from another area of Wahiawa. Further up the hill on California Avenue, the residential road ends or more so meets an entryway to the Wahiawa Hills Trail, Ewa Forest Reserve. I think it also holds access to the nearby wild pig hunting area.
It was a spontaneous park and walk...the neighborhood was already so quiet on this morning that stepping into the wooded area was slightly disorienting to not see buildings, utility cables, or hear vehicles passing in the distance. It was quiet and peaceful. I think I had just picked up my first removable lens camera and was using the kit lens. It's so fun to go out and see what the world looks like through a camera! Looking at these images a year later, I wonder if it's time to purge the raw images and tidy up the external drives...
